About Oncron
Deliver decision intelligence that keeps passengers and freight moving reliably across Europe.
Rail is the backbone of sustainable transport. We unlock the data required to run it with confidence.
We collaborate closely with operators and infrastructure managers, building tools that blend automation with human expertise.
Why
Europe's railways are the backbone of sustainable mobility, yet every day they struggle under the weight of complexity.
In some countries, every third train runs late, and in 2023 alone more than 400 million delay minutes accumulated across Europe - equivalent to 760 years of lost time - costing society over €10 billion and eroding public trust in the system meant to lead the green transition.
For signallers, dispatchers, and controllers, these numbers are not statistics - they are a daily reality. They stabilise traffic with tools never built for the scale and speed of today's operations. They keep rail moving through skill and intuition, but not yet with the digital support they deserve.
When disruptions strike, even experienced teams cannot see how local decisions ripple through the entire network.Yet these ripple effects account for up to 70% of all delay minutes - secondary delays that turn a single incident into a network-wide problem. A small disruption can cascade for hours and hundreds of kilometres, turning a local issue into a national performance crisis.
Modern control technology like ETCS and digital interlocking will one day transform rail capacity and punctuality. But that future is still years away. Full rollout will not reach most European networks until the 2030s or beyond. Until then, railways must perform with the infrastructure and systems they already have. And we believe they can.
That is why Oncron exists: to give the people who keep Europe moving the intelligence they need right now. Our mission is to make every decision more informed and every train more likely to arrive on time. Because the world does not just need more trains; it needs a railway that works - punctual, efficient, and trusted.
That is the railway we all deserve and the one we are building, together.
Team

Founder · Product
Thomas is a railway and AI specialist with over two decades of experience turning complex operational challenges into scalable, high-impact products. His career spans ten years at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), where he led data-driven innovation in traffic management, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance, and nearly eight years at KONUX, serving as Chief Product Officer and previously Chief Data Scientist. Across these roles, Thomas has designed and delivered machine-learning systems for real-world railway operations and shaped product organisations that turn engineering depth into real customer value. His work gives him a sharp sense of how to identify the true customer problems and how tech solves them. Motivated by curiosity and a drive for pragmatic problem-solving, Thomas co-founded Oncron to address one of rail’s prominent issues: the growing delays. He focuses on shaping a product that brings advanced AI into reliable, everyday decision support for operators and infrastructure managers.

Founder · Data Science
Thomas is a Data Scientist and Software Developer who loves building bridges between algorithms, products, and people. His cross-functional perspective stems from studies in control theory, a Dr.-Ing. in applying machine learning, and his career as a data scientist, giving him a powerful foundation for building innovative products. He combines frontier technology with a sharp user perspective to create intuitive, meaningful solutions that people actually enjoy using and can rely on every day. Curious by nature and motivated by impact, Thomas is driven by the idea of making the world a better place — one thoughtfully designed, responsible, and genuinely valuable product at a time.

Founder · Engineering
Lewis is a rail-technology specialist with deep experience in UK and European railway digitalisation. Over the past decade he has led the design, delivery and commercialisation of advanced data systems across the network, including real-time geofencing, OLE and pantograph monitoring, and large-scale cloud-based data platforms ingesting and analysing operational rail data at national scale. His work spans asset intelligence, delay attribution, and performance optimisation, giving him a practical, engineering-level understanding of how delays originate, spread, and escalate. Drawing on this background, Lewis co-founded Oncron to tackle one of the industry's most persistent challenges: the compounding effect of knock-on delays. Lewis combines hands-on technical capability with a strong vision, aiming to equip operators and infrastructure managers with tools that meaningfully reduce disruption across the network.
